Long Days and Life’s Simple Pleasures
Summer in southern Lapland feels almost endless. Around Lycksele, where Casström is based, daylight lingers long into the night. The forests come alive once again, and every extra hour feels like an invitation to another outdoor adventure.
After months of winter, there is a sense that everyone wants to spend as much time outside as possible. Watching the landscape turn green again and feeling the warmth of the sun brings a renewed appreciation for nature. Rivers and lakes are crystal clear, the wilderness is filled with birdsong, and wildflowers bloom along the trails.
When the warm weather arrives, few things compare to a refreshing swim in one of the countless lakes or at one of the many bathing spots along the Ume River. Whether it's after a day at work, a hike through pine and spruce forests, or an evening around the campfire, swimming in lakes and rivers is an essential part of summer in Lycksele.

Under the midnight sun, there's always time for one more paddle or another cast of the fishing rod.
Midsummer is one of the highlights of the season. Family and friends gather to celebrate with traditional food, music, and dancing around the maypole, making the most of the longest days of the year. Soon afterwards, the first Swedish strawberries arrive—a flavour that, for many, is the very essence of summer.
Later in the season, the forests offer another of summer's treasures. Blueberries, raspberries, and cloudberries invite people to slow down and enjoy one of Sweden's most cherished summer traditions—berry picking.
For us at Casström, Lapland is more than the place where we make our knives—it's our home. The landscape around Lycksele inspires our passion for the outdoors every day. Summer reminds us to slow down, reconnect with nature, and appreciate the simple pleasures that make life in northern Sweden so special.
