A Knife Designed By Hunters, For Hunters
Introducing the Swedish Field Dresser, a knife meticulously crafted for hunting enthusiasts and professionals who demand speed, precision, and reliability in the field. This innovative tool features a nearly straight-line blade that excels in unzipping, field dressing, and skinning deer of all sizes, as well as small game and fish. It's design enhances control and maneuverability, allowing for quicker, more efficient work with reduced risk of accidental cuts.
Beyond its superior functionality, the Swedish Field Dresser is built with hygiene and durability in mind. The knife and sheath are constructed from materials that resist weather, moisture, and other fluids, ensuring easy clean-up after every use.
Developed with direct input from experienced hunters and game butchers, this knife addresses the real-world needs of those who rely on their tools in challenging environments.
KEY FEATURES
Superior Steel Made from Alleima (formerly Sandvik) 14C28N, a recycled Swedish stainless steel. The optimized chemistry provides a top-grade knife steel with a unique combination of excellent edge performance, high hardness, and good corrosion resistance. Casström blades are all cryo-quenched as standard too, which enhances wear resistance and fulfils the true potential of the steel.
Reversed Blade Design Edge and spine are inverted compared to a standard knife, which allows for better control when unzipping an animal, using a steady, forward pushing action.
Rounded Tip This prevents puncture damage to organs during gralloching, and reduces the risk of injuries.
Easier Sharpening The straight-line blade is easier to sharpen than conventional curved gut-openers, maintaining its edge with minimal effort.
Jimping, Deep Thumb Grip, and Finger Groove The knife has been designed with safety in mind, and there are a number of features allowing for a safer grip for better results.
Full-Tang Construction Provides robust durability, ensuring the knife can withstand demanding tasks in the field.
Weather and Fluid Resistant Handle Available in orange G10, black micarta, or stabilised curly birch, the handle is designed for a secure grip and long-lasting performance in harsh conditions.
Versatile Usage Beyond field dressing, the blade is also suitable for carving wood and preparing food on the fly, making it a versatile tool for outdoor activities.
Tough Kydex Sheath Comes with a durable kydex sheath for secure storage and protection, with optional leather hangers available for added convenience.

Makes unzipping the jacket a dream.
I've had this tool for a while now and I feel it's earned it's review. I'm currently working on Wild boar mostly and this makes it feel like the beast comes with a zip. So easy to get the first cuts of the process and the skinning cuts done clean and quick. So much so my father in law though I was an expert, I'm far from expert so this wee tool made me look good. Highly recommended.

Field Dresser
I have dozens of knives, some very expensive (£400+) and some very cheap(£12+) and they're all good at what they were designed for but I have to admit that the Field Dresser is my favourite. It is small, lightweight, easy to use and even easier to sharpen. It takes a bit of getting used to, being basically an upside down cutting edge but what a great idea! I used it for the first time last weekend on 3 Roe deer that I'd shot and it was flawless..without being too graphic, it processed all 3 deer perfectly up until a more dedicated butchering knife was needed.. 10/10 from me.

The best U.K. legal knife money can buy
I purchased the Lars Fält slip joint knife from Casstrom at the bushcraft show almost a year ago now. Having used this knife on a weekly basis I am confident in saying this is probably the best U.K. legal slip joint money can by. As always the knife scales are finished beautiful curly birch. I would recommend regular oiling with boiled linseed oil if you use it frequently. The steel is perfect for every day, low maintained use. Holds an edge relatively well and is extremely easy to sharpen. What sets this knife apart from the competition, is the folding mechanism, unlike almost all folding knives, the blade on this mechanism stops at 90 degrees, adding that extra security to a folding knife. This has saved my fingers on more than one occasion, this is very well designed. I’d recommend this over any other slip joint on the market! Well done Casstrom 10/10

Another excellent purchase from Casstrom. Received this one as a birthday gift. Leo went above and beyond to ensure we could get the knife engraved with custom text. As always excellent build quality by Casstrom. Sturdy sheath of good quality leather. Razor sharp out the box, haven’t needed to sharpen it yet but sure it will be as easy to sharpen as my other Casstrom knives. Fire steel is a lot thicker than I expected and should last a long time.

Impeccable customer service
I'll start with the knife. It's beautiful and highly functional. I'm mostly using it for skinning wild boar just now and it's lovely to work with. The handle fits numerous different grips really well and I didn't find it getting too slippery with a bit of claret on it which was a nice surprise. The blade is relatively easy to get a razor edge on and seams to keep it really well even when you're taking the feet and head off.
Now the customer service, I was truly gob smacked how good it was. About a day or two after I'd placed my order I received a phone call from Sweden from a lovely English bloke (sorry I didn't get your name) saying one of my items was out of stock in the UK distribution centre so he'd ship from Sweden if that was okay and if I wanted to change my order to get an all black setup he could sort that out. I was almost speechless but managed a 'hell yeah'. So I got more than I had expected delivered faster. How often does that happen. I'll be recommending Casstrom to everyone at the hunt from now on.

Useful accessory
I already have one of these danglers for my RM bushcraft knife, but I wanted to modify the leather sheath for my Fallkniven A1 Pro to make it quick release. I removed the old belt attachment and rivet, fitted the dangler attachment and replaced the sheath rivet with a Chicago screw. It makes the whole thing much more user friendly, I don’t know why Fallkniven don’t fit these as standard.

Good for skin conditions and cuts/grazes
I thought I would try this for a natural salva for my hands and skin, I get cut hands through work and sore patches, spots on my forearms which just don’t heal for months. Look unsightly and itch, I tried this and covered the area with salve, within a few days the skin red patches and soreness started to lessen and now after a couple of weeks they are nearly gone, my skin/arm doesn’t itch all the time and the skin is going back to normal. Before it would take months and have a patch of raised red skin scars tissue.
I also used it in a bad cut with a bahco Laplander saw, on my finger, I was distracted for a moment. Anyway, the salva filled the cut gap and stopped any infection and pain, that was 2 weeks ago, it is a lot better, healthier and cleaner now. It’s made a world of difference to my skin and cuts/grazes.
